Wilmot Ski Patrol
When it’s so hot it’s hard to start thinking about
the up-coming ski season so here are a few reminders:
Registration:
By now you should have received your
2010-2011 registration packets. The documents
are also available by visiting the Documents page in the Member's Only section. The
due date to respond is September 10, 2010
OEC Refresher:
This year’s refresher will be held at
Wilmot on Sunday, October 17, 2010.
For those running stations, the pre-refresher will be held on Sunday,
October 3, 2010
All Wilmot Ski Patrol Members are
required to complete this prior to the ski season. You may fulfill this requirement at other Ski
Area's refreshers, but it must be approved by the patrol representatives at the
other patrol prior to your attending.
You must bring evidence of completion back to the Wilmot patrol
administration demonstrating satisfactory completion.
CPR Re-Certification:
All Patrollers are responsible to
re-certify annually their CPR credentials.
Requirements for recertification to meet the NSP
guidelines are:
·
You must take a
professional rescuer level CPR certification
·
The certification
must have been taken in 2010 and not expire prior to the end of the 2010/2011
ski season (March 31st 2011)
·
Your CPR card
must indicate the expiration date, certifying body, and class date
·
The only
certifying bodies accepted are the American Heart Association, American Red
Cross, the National Safety Council, and the American Safety and Health
Institute
We are working with Sam Frank to offer
classes to Wilmot Ski Patrol members.
Sam has graciously accepted and we thank him for providing this valuable
service to the patrol membership.
Please be on the look-out for times and locations coming soon.
Summer Fitness
While this is not a requirement we all
know that success on the slopes starts in the summer. Studies have shown that a little additional
exercise will limit injuries and promote better health, why not start today by
getting a few extra miles in on the bicycle, gym, treadmill or jogging trail.
Get your copy of the Summer
2010 issues of the Rusty
Parka from the Central Region web site and the Southern Cross from the Southern Region web site or go to
the Member's
Only section of this site for a
copy of both
Watch your Junk Mail Folder! We are learning that the filters employed by
many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are viewing the Wilmot Ski Patrol group
email notifications as Junk Mail or Spam.
Since these email contain important information
be sure to keep an eye on your Junk Mail folder.
Many ISPs allow you to designate Trusted Senders. By
maintaining a list of trusted senders you can help prevent legitimate emails
from being considered junk. Also, check
your ISP’s setting to see if your junk mail is being automatically
deleted. Your ISP may allow you to send
your junk mail to a special folder rather than automatically being deleted.
With much sadness we must report the death of Christopher
Morris’ father Ralph. Services will be
held on Sunday, August 22nd at St. Michael's Episcopal Church,
